How to Draw a Puddle
Draw a puddle in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the puddle.
Step 1: The puddle
Below the middle of your paper draw a flat puddle with soft wobbly edges, much wider than it is tall.
Tip A puddle lies flat on the ground, so keep it low: about 4 times wider than it is tall.
Step 2: A splash
A little right of the middle of the puddle, draw a little splash with 3 points, like a crown.
Step 3: Ripple rings
Around the bottom of the splash draw a flat oval and a smaller one inside it, stopping at the splash.
Step 4: A raindrop
Above the splash draw a raindrop falling down: a point on top and a round bottom.
Step 5: More raindrops
Draw 2 smaller raindrops falling above the puddle, one on each side, at different heights.
Step 6: The ground
Draw the ground from the left edge to the puddle's left tip, then from its right tip to the edge.
Step 7: A rain boot
On the ground left of the puddle draw a small rain boot: a tall leg and a round toe.
Step 8: Top and sole
Draw a line across the top of the boot's leg, and one across the bottom for the sole.
Step 9: A grass tuft
On the ground right of the puddle, draw a small tuft of grass with 3 wide pointy blades.
Step 10: Yellow boot
Colour the whole rain boot yellow.
Step 11: Light blue puddle
Colour the puddle and the splash light blue.
Step 12: Green grass
Colour the grass tuft green.
Step 13: Blue drops
Colour the 3 raindrops blue. Go over your lines and your puddle is done!
