How to Draw a Rain Barrel
Draw a rain barrel in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the barrel.
Step 1: The barrel
In the middle draw a tall barrel: bulging sides, a top that curves down a little, a flat bottom.
Tip A rain barrel catches rain from the roof pipe.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the barrel, above the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, with a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, with a small flat cheek beside each end.
Step 4: The lid
Across the top of the barrel draw a flat oval for the lid, its bottom along the curved top.
Step 5: Hoops and staves
Draw a curve across the barrel above the face and one below for hoops. Add a line down each side.
Step 6: The downspout
Near the top draw a long gutter box. From under its right end draw a pipe bending into the lid.
Step 7: The tap
Low on the left draw a little tap: a short pipe, a spout turning down, a T handle on top.
Step 8: Stand, bucket, ground
Draw a flat stand under the barrel, a bucket under the tap, then a ground line from side to side.
Step 9: Drip and rain
Draw a drip under the tap spout, and 2 raindrops beside the barrel.
Step 10: Blue drops, pink cheeks
Colour the drip and raindrops sky blue, and the cheeks pink. Save the rain!
Step 11: Grey pipe and tap
Colour the gutter, pipe, tap and stand grey, and the bucket green.
Step 12: Wood barrel
Go over your lines, then colour the barrel wood brown, going around the face. Colour the lid slate.
Tip Keep the eyes white.
