How to Draw a QR Code
Draw a QR code in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the square.
Step 1: The square
In the middle of your paper draw a big square with soft corners, about as big as your hand.
Step 2: A window
In the very middle draw a smaller square with soft corners, about a third as wide.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the window draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile from one eye to the other. Add a small cheek beside each end.
Step 5: Three corner squares
Draw a square a quarter as wide in the top-left, top-right and bottom-left corners. Colour a black square in each.
Step 6: Blocks along the top
Between the top corner squares colour a few little black blocks, all the same small size, in a jumble.
Step 7: Blocks down the left
Do the same down the left side, between the corner squares and left of the window.
Step 8: Blocks on the right
Now scatter black blocks down the right side, beside the window.
Step 9: Blocks along the bottom
Finish with a few blocks along the bottom, right of the corner square.
Step 10: Ground and sparkles
Draw a ground line under the square from well left to well right. Add a sparkle star on each side.
Step 11: White code, sky window
Go over your lines. Colour the window sky blue around the cheeks, leaving the eyes and the code white.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, yellow sparkles
Colour the cheeks pink and the sparkles yellow. Your QR code is ready to scan!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a QR code, drawn by you.
