How to Draw a Palette
Draw a palette in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the palette.
Step 1: The palette
In the middle of your paper draw a big rounded shape like a fat kidney bean lying down.
Tip Nearly fills the page, with a little dip near the top right.
Step 2: The thumb hole
Near the top right of the palette draw a small oval hole for the thumb.
Step 3: Paint dabs
Draw 6 round paint dabs around the palette, like big spots, leaving space between them.
Step 4: The brush
Draw a thin handle behind the palette, from a short end top left to a long end bottom right.
Tip Keep both ends in one straight line, as if the handle runs right under the palette.
Step 5: Metal band
On the top end of the handle draw a short metal band, as wide as the handle.
Step 6: Bristles
Beyond the band draw a pointed tuft of bristles, fat in the middle.
Step 7: Yellow and red paint
Colour the top dab yellow. Colour the top-left dab, the bottom-right dab and the bristles red.
Step 8: Blue and green paint
Colour the left dab and the right dab blue, and the bottom dab green.
Step 9: Wooden palette
Colour the palette wood brown, going around the dabs and leaving the hole white.
Step 10: Brown brush, grey band
Colour the brush handle brown and the metal band grey. Go over your lines!
