How to Draw a Purple Deadnettle
Draw a purple deadnettle in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stalk.
Step 1: The stalk
From near the bottom middle, draw a tall straight stalk up towards the top, a little wider at the bottom.
Tip Leave room above it for the flowers.
Step 2: Three flowers
On the tip of the stalk draw 3 little flower tubes: 1 straight up, 1 leaning out each side.
Tip Each flower is thin at the bottom and fat and round at the top, like a tiny club.
Step 3: Top leaves
Just under the flowers draw a small heart-shaped leaf on each side, with its point out.
Step 4: Middle leaves
Below them draw 2 bigger heart leaves, drooping a little more.
Tip The 2 leaves of a pair grow from the same spot on the stalk.
Step 5: Third pair
Below again, draw a third pair of heart leaves, bigger still.
Step 6: Leaves on stalks
Further down, draw a short leaf stalk each side with a big heart leaf hanging from its end.
Step 7: Biggest leaves
Near the bottom draw 2 longer leaf stalks with the biggest heart leaves of all.
Tip Match the 2 sides, like a mirror.
Step 8: Leaf lines
Start where each leaf joins on. Draw 1 line along its middle and stop before the point.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line across, under the stalk. Flick up 2 grass blades each side, out past the leaves.
Step 10: Pink flowers
Go over your lines. Colour the 3 flowers pink.
Step 11: Green parts
Colour the stalk, the 4 leaf stalks and the 4 big bottom leaves leaf green.
Step 12: Purple leaves
Colour the 6 top leaves purple, and your purple deadnettle is done!
Tip It looks like a nettle but it cannot sting. That is why it is called dead.
