How to Draw a Periwinkle
Draw a periwinkle in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bottom petal.
Step 1: The bottom petal
Start at a point near the top. Draw a petal hanging down: thin at the point, wide and flat below.
Tip The point is the middle of the flower. All 5 petals meet there.
Step 2: 2 side petals
From the same point draw a petal out to the left and one out to the right.
Step 3: 2 top petals
From the same point draw 2 more petals going up, like a V, to finish the pinwheel.
Tip Leave a thin gap between petals so they look like a windmill.
Step 4: The middle
Where the petals meet draw a small round middle.
Step 5: The stem
Start under the bottom petal. Draw a stem of 2 lines close together down to near the bottom.
Step 6: Top leaves
Start on the stem below the flower. Draw a pointed oval leaf up and out each side.
Tip Periwinkle leaves grow in pairs, one each side of the stem.
Step 7: Bottom leaves
Lower down the stem draw another pair of pointed oval leaves, a little bigger.
Step 8: Leaf veins
Start on the stem at each leaf. Draw one line along the middle, stopping before the tip.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a ground line through the stem, stop near the right edge. Add grass.
Step 10: Yellow middle, green leaves
Go over your lines, then colour the middle yellow, and the stem and all 4 leaves green.
Step 11: Blue petals
Colour all 5 petals blue around the yellow middle, and your periwinkle is done.
