How to Draw a Bluebonnet
Draw a bluebonnet in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: mound and stalk.
Step 1: Mound and stalk
Near the bottom draw a dirt mound. From its top draw a stalk of 2 close lines, stopping high up.
Tip Let the 2 lines come a little closer together as they go up.
Step 2: Two more stalks
From the mound draw a stalk of 2 close lines leaning left, stopping lower. Do the same on the right.
Step 3: The middle cone
From the middle stalk's top draw a tall bumpy cone up to a point. Curve a line under its tip.
Tip Keep it slim and pointy, much taller than it is wide, with little bumps all the way up.
Step 4: The left cone
From the left stalk's top draw a tall bumpy cone up to a point. Curve a line under its tip.
Step 5: The right cone
From the right stalk's top draw a tall bumpy cone up to a point. Curve a line under its tip.
Step 6: Leaf on the left
Low on the left stalk draw a short leaf stalk out left, with 5 slim fingers fanning from its end.
Tip A bluebonnet leaf looks like a hand with 5 thin fingers.
Step 7: Leaf on the right
Draw a leaf just like it on the right stalk, with a short leaf stalk and 5 slim fingers.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line out from each side of the mound. Flick up 2 grass blades each side.
Step 9: Green stalks and leaves
Colour the 3 stalks, the 2 leaf stalks and all 10 fingers leaf green.
Step 10: Blue cones, brown mound
Colour the cones blue, but leave each tip white. Colour the mound brown, and your bluebonnet is done!
