How to Draw a Bluet
Draw a bluet in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle.
Step 1: The middle
Near the top draw a small circle for the middle of the flower, about as big as a plum.
Step 2: Eyes and a smile
Halfway down the circle draw 2 big egg eyes with black dots. Add a wide U smile under them.
Step 3: Four fat petals
Start on the circle's top. Draw a fat petal up and back down to it. Repeat down, left and right.
Tip Four petals like a plus sign, each as long as the middle is wide.
Step 4: The stem
From the bottom petal draw 2 gently bending lines down to near the bottom, a little wider apart there.
Step 5: Two buds
Under the petals, curve 2 stalks out from the stem. End each with an egg bud in a little cup.
Step 6: Two leaves
A hand below the petals draw a fat leaf on each side of the stem, pointing out and up.
Step 7: Leaf veins
From the stem draw one gently curved vein out through each leaf, stopping just short of the tip.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line across the bottom, stopping near each edge. Add 2 grass blades each side of the stem.
Step 9: Yellow middle
Colour the middle yellow, going round the eyes and 2 small cheek spots. Keep the eyes white.
Step 10: Sky blue petals
Colour all 4 petals and the 2 buds sky blue.
Step 11: Pink cheeks, green stem
Colour the cheek spots pink. Colour the stem, leaves and bud cups green, then go over your lines!
