How to Draw Pampas Grass
Draw pampas grass in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: 3 stalks.
Step 1: 3 stalks
From the ground draw 3 tall stalks, thinner at the top, the middle one tallest, the outer 2 leaning out.
Tip Pampas grass plumes are soft and feathery like giant fox tails.
Step 2: Middle plume
On top of the middle stalk draw a long fluffy plume with bumpy edges, its tip bending over.
Step 3: 2 more plumes
On the other 2 stalks draw a smaller fluffy plume each, their tips bending outwards.
Step 4: Feathery wisps
Inside the middle plume draw 3 short soft strokes slanting up and out from the middle, like wisps of fluff.
Step 5: More wisps
Give the other 2 plumes 3 wisp strokes each the same way.
Step 6: Grass blades
Beside the stalks draw 4 long thin blades curving up and out, 2 each side, the outer tips bending down.
Tip Draw each inner blade first, then stop the outer one where it meets it.
Step 7: More blades
Low on each side, add a shorter blade curving out from the ground, peeking from behind the long blades.
Step 8: The ground
Draw a long ground line through the bottom of the clump, from near the left edge to near the right.
Step 9: Cream plumes
Go over your lines, then colour the 3 plumes cream.
Step 10: Tan stalks
Colour the 3 stalks tan.
Step 11: Green blades
Colour the grass blades green, and your pampas grass is done!
