How to Draw Ivy
Draw ivy in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the post.
Step 1: The post
In the middle draw a tall thin post, from near the bottom of your paper nearly to the top.
Step 2: The ivy stem
From the bottom left of the post, wind an S stem up to its top, getting thinner as it climbs.
Tip The stem wiggles like a snake climbing.
Step 3: Leaves on the left
Draw 3 leaves off the left of the stem, low to high. Each has 3 points, the middle one long.
Step 4: Leaves on the right
Draw 3 more ivy leaves off the right of the stem, taking turns with the left ones.
Step 5: A leaf on top
From the very top of the stem draw one more ivy leaf pointing straight up.
Step 6: Leaf veins
Start at the stem end of each leaf. Draw one straight vein out to the tip, stopping just short.
Step 7: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line through the post's bottom, stopping near the right edge.
Step 8: Grass
From the ground on each side of the post flick up 2 little grass blades.
Step 9: Stem and post
Go over your lines. Colour the stem light green, then the post brown around the stem and the leaves.
Step 10: Green ivy
Colour all 7 ivy leaves dark green, around the stem.
