How to Draw Pruning Shears
Draw pruning shears in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bolt.
Step 1: The bolt
A little left of the middle, draw a big round disc for the bolt that holds the shears together.
Step 2: Two big eyes
On the disc, above the middle, draw 2 round eyes a little apart. Add black dots with white shines.
Step 3: A happy smile
Under the eyes, draw a small U smile in the middle.
Step 4: The curved blade
From the disc's left side, draw a curved blade out to a sharp point, then back to the disc.
Step 5: The hook
Under the blade, leaving a gap, draw a curved hook from the disc out left, with a round tip.
Step 6: Top handle
From the disc's right side, draw a long handle out to the right, a little thinner at its round end.
Step 7: Bottom handle
Under it, from the disc, draw a second long handle curving down right, spreading apart, with a round end.
Step 8: Ground line
Under the shears draw a long ground line from left to right, touching the hook and the bottom handle.
Step 9: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour a pink cheek under each eye.
Step 10: Yellow bolt
Colour the disc yellow around the cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Grey blades
Colour the curved blade and the hook grey.
Step 12: Red handles
Colour both handles red. Your pruning shears are ready to snip!
