How to Draw a Prism
Draw a prism in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front triangle.
Step 1: The front triangle
On the left half, draw a big triangle: a point at the top, 2 slanted sides, a flat bottom.
Tip A prism is a triangle stretched back into a solid, like a tent.
Step 2: Two big eyes
Low in the triangle, draw 2 big eggy eyes with a small gap. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 3: A big smile
Leave a little gap under the eyes, then draw a big wide U smile from eye to eye.
Step 4: Rosy cheeks
A little way out beside each end of the smile, draw one small sideways oval for a rosy cheek.
Step 5: The long side
From the top point, slant a line up right. Slant down like the right side, then back to the corner.
Tip The back edge matches the front triangle's right side in length and slope.
Step 6: Sparkles on the left
On the left of the prism, draw 2 sparkle stars, one higher and one lower.
Step 7: Sparkles on the right
Draw 2 more sparkle stars on the right to match.
Step 8: Floor and shadow
Draw a floor line right across the paper under the prism. Add a thin flat oval shadow round its bottom.
Step 9: Yellow sparkles, pink cheeks
Go over your lines, then colour the 4 sparkles yellow and the rosy cheeks pink.
Step 10: Pink side, grey shadow
Colour the long sloping side pink, so the prism looks solid. Colour the shadow grey.
Step 11: Purple front
Colour the front triangle purple, around the face. Leave the eyes white. Your 3D prism is done!

Your finished drawing
