How to Draw a Principal

Step 1: Head and ears

Near the top draw an egg head. Add a C ear on each side, starting and stopping on the head.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

Step 2: Glasses and face

Draw 2 round glasses joined by a bridge. Add a big dot eye in each, a nose and a smile.

Step 3: Neat hair

Start above one ear and draw smooth hair over to the other ear. Add a hairline with a side parting.

Step 4: Neck and jacket

Draw 2 neck lines from the chin. Add round shoulders, a deep V and the body down to a hem.

Tip Join the neck lines with a small collar curve. The body starts under each shoulder.

Step 5: Tie and button

Under the collar draw a long pointed tie with a knot line. Add a button and a line below.

Step 6: Long sleeves

From each shoulder end and armpit draw a sleeve line down to the wrist. Add a cuff line across.

Tip Let each arm bend a little at the elbow.

Step 7: Hand and fist

Under the right sleeve draw a mitten hand with a thumb. Under the left sleeve draw a round fist.

Tip The fist is closed because it will hold a bell.

Step 8: School bell

Under the fist draw a short handle and a bell, wide at the bottom. Add a band and a ball.

Tip The ball under the bell is the clapper that makes it ring.

Step 9: Trousers

From the jacket's left corner draw 2 long trouser legs with a gap between. Stop at the right corner.

Step 10: Shoes and ground

Under each leg draw a shoe with the toe pointing out. Add a long ground line under the shoes.

Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Colour 2 pink cheeks. Colour the face, ears, neck, hand and fist peach. Leave the glasses white.

Step 12: Yellow bell, red tie

Colour the bell yellow and the tie red. Leave the shirt white.

Step 13: Grey hair, brown shoes

Colour the hair grey. Colour the shoes, the bell's handle and its clapper ball brown.

Step 14: Blue suit

Colour the jacket, the sleeves and the trousers blue. Go over your lines and your principal is done!
