How to Draw a Hephaestus
Draw a hephaestus in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a bit narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave room on the right for a big hammer.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 round eyes with black dots and shines, just below the middle. Add a U nose and a smile.
Step 3: Bushy beard
Under the nose draw a moustache, ends curling up. Hang a round U beard from cheek to cheek.
Step 4: Curly hair and band
Draw a band above the eyes. From beside one eye draw curly hair over the top to the other eye.
Step 5: The tunic
From behind the beard draw round shoulders, then 2 sides down to a curved hem.
Step 6: Big sleeves
Draw a sleeve hanging down on the left. On the right, one goes out and bends up. Add cuffs.
Tip Make each sleeve fat at the shoulder and thinner at the cuff.
Step 7: Mitten hands
Under the left cuff draw a round hand with a thumb bump. On the right cuff draw a round fist.
Step 8: Big hammer
Standing in the fist draw a long handle, leaning out. On top draw a chunky block for the hammer head.
Tip The bottom of the handle hides inside the fist.
Step 9: Leather apron
From under the beard draw 2 apron sides sloping out. Join them with a line just above the hem.
Step 10: Legs and sandals
From the hem draw 2 legs down to thin ankles. Add 2 sandals, toes out, and a ground line.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour pink cheeks, then the face, the hands and the legs peach.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Cream tunic, gold band
Colour the tunic and both sleeves cream, around the apron. Colour the headband yellow.
Step 13: Ginger hair, grey hammer
Colour the hair, the moustache and the beard ginger orange. Colour the hammer head grey.
Step 14: Brown apron
Colour the apron, the hammer handle and the sandals brown. Hephaestus is done!
