How to Draw a Princess Dress

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a princess dress in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round collar.

Print

  1. Step 1: Round collar

Near the top, draw a shallow scoop neckline. From each end, hang a petal down to meet in a point.

Tip The 2 petals meet in a little point under the dip.

  2. Step 2: Top of the dress

From each neckline end, draw a short shoulder out, then curve down to a narrow waist. Join the waist across.

Tip The waist is about as far below the neckline as the scoop is wide.

  3. Step 3: Big twirly skirt

From the waist, swoop 2 lines down and out like a bell, stopping near the bottom. Add a bumpy hem.

Tip A big bell, much bigger than the top, with 7 bumps on the hem.

  4. Step 4: Puffy sleeves

From each shoulder, draw a puffy sleeve out and round, back to the side lower down. Add a cuff.

  5. Step 5: Bow knot

On the middle of the waist, draw a small oval knot for the bow.

  6. Step 6: Two big bow loops

From each side of the knot, draw a big fat petal loop out past the waist and back.

Tip Each loop is far bigger than the knot, poking out past the sides of the dress.

  7. Step 7: Open overskirt

From under each bow loop, curve a long line down and out to the hem, like an upside-down V.

  8. Step 8: Frills

Inside the opening, draw 3 rows of little bumps from edge to edge, one above the other, like frills.

  9. Step 9: Heart gem and sparkles

Under the collar point, draw a small heart gem. Add 4 sparkle stars around the dress.

  10. Step 10: Yellow gem and sparkles

Colour the heart gem and the sparkles yellow.

  11. Step 11: Pink underskirt and bow

Colour the underskirt inside the opening pink. Colour the knot and bow loops pink too.

  12. Step 12: Purple dress

Colour the top, sleeves and overskirt purple around the bow and gem. Leave the collar white. Your dress is done!
