How to Draw an Erlenmeyer Flask

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw an erlenmeyer flask in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the flask body.

Print

  1. Step 1: The flask body

Start above the middle. Slope down and out, draw a flat bottom, slope back up and stop beside your start.

Tip Leave a small gap at the top for the neck, and keep the bottom corners soft.

  2. Step 2: Neck and rim

From each end draw a line straight up. Join them with a flat rounded band, a little wider.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

Low in the flask draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a big black dot and a white shine in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end.

  5. Step 5: The liquid

Above the face, start on the left side. Draw a wavy line across and stop on the right side.

  6. Step 6: Measuring marks

On the right side above the liquid draw 3 short lines from the edge inward, evenly spaced.

  7. Step 7: Bubbles inside

Low in the liquid, under the face, draw 3 small round bubbles.

  8. Step 8: Bubbles on top

Above the rim draw 3 more bubbles floating up out of the flask.

  9. Step 9: Glass shine

On the left above the liquid draw 1 long and 1 short line, sloping like the side.

  10. Step 10: Shadow and table

Draw a thin flat oval shadow around the bottom. Add a table line out from each end.

  11. Step 11: Pink cheeks

    Colour the cheeks pink.

  12. Step 12: Grey and sky blue

Colour the shadow grey and the top bubbles sky blue. Leave the empty glass white so it looks clear.

  13. Step 13: Blue liquid

Go over your lines. Colour the liquid blue around the face, leaving the bubbles white. Your flask is done!

    Tip Leave the eyes white.
