How to Draw Pencil Shavings
Draw pencil shavings in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pencil.
Step 1: The pencil
On the left, below the middle, draw a long fat box lying flat for the pencil.
Step 2: 2 big eyes
In the middle of the pencil draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a small U smile from eye to eye, and a tiny oval cheek at each end.
Step 4: The sharp point
From the top corner, go out to a sharp point and back to the bottom corner. Add a lead line.
Step 5: Eraser and band
Start on the top left corner. Draw a round eraser bump, stop at the bottom corner. Add 2 band lines.
Step 6: The frilly shaving
Right of the pencil draw a fan shaving, its point at the bottom left, with a double frilly edge.
Step 7: Small shaving and table
On the right draw a smaller shaving the same way. Then draw a table line under everything, edge to edge.
Step 8: Sparkles
Above the pencil and the shaving, draw 3 four-point sparkles, big enough to colour in.
Step 9: Yellow pencil and edges
Go over your lines, then colour the pencil and the frilly edges yellow, leaving the eyes and cheeks white.
Step 10: Sand wood
Colour the point and both shavings sand, around the frilly edges.
Step 11: Pink eraser, grey band
Colour the eraser and the cheeks pink, and the metal band grey.
Step 12: Grey lead, yellow sparkles
Colour the lead dark grey and the sparkles yellow, and your pencil shavings are done!
