How to Draw a Primrose
Draw a primrose in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top petal.
Step 1: The top petal
Near the top, draw a petal like a fat heart standing on its point, with a dip in the top.
Tip Every primrose petal has a little dip in its edge, like a heart.
Step 2: Two more petals
From the same point, draw a heart petal out right and one out left, both behind the first.
Step 3: The last two petals
From the point, draw a heart petal pointing down right and one down left, behind the others. That makes 5.
Step 4: Star in the middle
Where the petals meet, draw a tiny 5-point star for the middle.
Step 5: The stem
Start under the flower. Draw a stem of 2 lines close together down to near the bottom, bowing gently.
Step 6: Two leaves
Below the flower, draw a long oval leaf out left from the stem, and one lower right. Add vein lines.
Step 7: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line through the stem's foot, stopping near the right. Add grass.
Step 8: Yellow petals
Colour all 5 petals yellow.
Step 9: An orange middle
Colour the star orange.
Step 10: Green stem and leaves
Colour the stem and both leaves leaf green. Go over your lines and your primrose is done!
