How to Draw a Poinsettia
Draw a poinsettia in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the middle.
Step 1: The middle
A third of the way down your paper draw 5 round berries in a little ring, all touching.
Step 2: The first leaf
Start on top of the cluster. Draw a big pointed leaf straight up and back down to the cluster.
Tip A poinsettia's red petals are really pointed leaves.
Step 3: Two more
Start on the cluster and draw the same leaf pointing up right, then down right, ending on the cluster.
Step 4: Three more
Draw the same pointed leaf pointing down, down left and up left, so 6 points go round like a star.
Step 5: Green leaves behind
In each gap between the red leaves draw a longer pointed leaf peeking out from behind.
Step 6: The stem
Start at the bottom point of the flower. Draw 2 stem lines down to near the bottom, spreading apart.
Step 7: Two leaves
A hand below the flower draw a fat pointed leaf left of the stem. Add one lower on the right.
Step 8: Leaf veins
Start on the stem in the middle of each leaf. Draw one curved vein line, stopping short of the tip.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line as wide as the flower. Add 2 grass blades each side of the stem.
Step 10: Yellow middle, red star
Colour the berries and the middle yellow first. Then colour the 6 front leaves red, right to their points.
Step 11: Green leaves and stem
Colour the 6 leaves behind, the stem and the 2 fat leaves green. Your poinsettia is done!

Your finished drawing
