How to Draw Algae
Draw algae in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the tall blade.
Step 1: The tall blade
Low in the middle draw a tall wiggly blade up to a point, back down, and join the bottom.
Tip Wiggle, do not zigzag: soft bends like a ribbon in a breeze.
Step 2: The sandy floor
Near the blade's bottom draw a wavy sand line from the left edge to the right edge, behind the blade.
Step 3: A happy face
Near the top of the tall blade draw 2 egg eyes with black dots, and a small U smile below.
Step 4: Two more blades
On each side of the tall blade, start on the sand and draw a shorter wiggly blade leaning out.
Step 5: Two little blades
Further out on each side draw one more short wiggly blade, the smallest yet, standing on the sand.
Step 6: Bubbles
On the left draw 3 round bubbles floating up, smallest at the bottom. Add 2 more on the right.
Step 7: The water top
High on the paper draw 2 wavy lines of little bumps, one left and one right, for the water top.
Step 8: A little fish
Up on the right draw a little fish: a pointed egg with a triangle tail and a dot eye.
Step 9: Rock and pebble
On the sand draw a round rock on the right and a small pebble on the far left.
Step 10: Sandy floor, blue bubbles
Go over your lines. Colour the floor sand around the blades, rock and pebble, and the bubbles sky blue.
Step 11: Grey rock
Colour the rock and the pebble grey.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, orange fish
Colour 2 pink cheeks under the eyes, and the fish orange.
Step 13: Green algae
Colour every blade green, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white. All done!
