How to Draw a Preacher

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a preacher in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and the pulpit.

  2. Step 2: The face

In the middle of the head draw 2 big eyes with black dots. Add eyebrows, a nose and a smile.

  3. Step 3: Hair and ears

Draw neat hair over the top of the head. Each C ear starts and stops on the head.

  4. Step 4: Suit jacket

Draw 2 neck lines down to the collar. From them draw round shoulders, then 2 straight sides going down.

Tip Make the shoulders round, not pointy.

  5. Step 5: Collar and tie

From the shoulders draw a big V for the collar, then a line down. Inside the V draw a tie.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

Draw each sleeve with 2 lines from the shoulder and the armpit down to the wrist. Add a cuff line.

  7. Step 7: Mitten hands

Under each sleeve draw a round mitten hand, like the bottom of an egg, with a little thumb pointing in.

  8. Step 8: Pulpit top

Under the hands draw a long thin box from side to side, so both hands rest on it.

Tip Rub out the jacket lines inside the box.

  9. Step 9: Open book

On the middle of the pulpit top draw an open book: 2 low hills, 2 short sides and a spine.

Tip Rub out the jacket lines inside the book.

  10. Step 10: Pulpit front

Under the top draw a big box, a little narrower at the bottom. Add a base and a ground line.

  11. Step 11: A cross

In the middle of the pulpit front draw a cross: one tall bar and one shorter bar across it.

  12. Step 12: Pink cheeks, peach skin

Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks pink, then the face, ears, neck and hands peach around them.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Yellow cross, red tie

Colour the cross on the pulpit yellow and the tie red.

  14. Step 14: Brown pulpit, navy suit

Colour the hair and the pulpit brown, around the cross. Colour the jacket and sleeves navy.

Tip Leave the shirt and the book white.
