How to Draw a Sleeping Face
Draw a sleeping face in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top, draw a big soft egg for the head: full round cheeks, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Make it nearly two thirds of the page tall: a cartoon head is big.
Step 2: Two ears
Each side, draw a C ear: start on the head, bulge out, stop lower down. Add a smaller C inside.
Step 3: Sleeping eyes
Below the middle of the head, draw 2 gentle U curves for closed eyes, with a tiny lash each.
Tip Closed eyes are just little smiles.
Step 4: Nose and sleepy smile
Between and below the eyes, draw a tiny U for the nose. Under it, draw a small soft smile.
Step 5: Eyebrows
Above each closed eye, draw a short curved line like a little rainbow, nice and relaxed.
Step 6: Z z z
Beside the head on the right, draw 3 Zs floating up and away, each a little bigger than the last.
Tip Zs are for snoring: small near the head, bigger further away.
Step 7: Hair cap
Start above the left ear. Draw soft round tufts over the head, stopping above the right ear.
Tip Soft bumps, like a row of little clouds, not spikes.
Step 8: Hairline
Start at the same left point. Draw a gentle curve across the forehead, above the eyebrows, stopping at the right.
Step 9: Neck and shirt
Draw 2 neck lines under the chin, then 2 sloping shoulders joined by a flat line. Add a U collar.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, peach skin
Rub a soft pink circle on each cheek. Colour the face, ears and neck peach, around the cheeks.
Step 11: Brown hair
Colour the hair brown.
Step 12: Sky blue pyjamas
Colour the shirt sky blue for pyjamas. Go over your lines and your sleeping face is done.
