How to Draw a Power Plant
Draw a power plant in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the walls.
Step 1: The walls
Start on the left, below the middle. Draw a wall down, across the bottom, and up to the same height.
Step 2: Sawtooth roof
From the top-left corner draw a zigzag roof with 2 teeth, ending at the top-right corner.
Tip Each tooth slopes up, then drops straight down.
Step 3: The cooling tower
Right of the building draw a huge cooling tower, wide at the bottom, pinched in high up, with a flat top.
Tip Its sides curve in, then flare out a little at the top.
Step 4: Puffs of steam
From the tower top's left corner draw 3 steam bumps over to the right corner. Add a small cloud above.
Step 5: The big door
Start on the bottom line, middle of the wall. Draw a big door up, across, and down to the bottom.
Step 6: Door slats and handle
Draw 3 lines across the door, spaced out, like a rolling door. Add a small round handle near the bottom.
Step 7: Two windows
On each side of the door draw a tall window with a shelf under it and a plus sign inside.
Step 8: Lightning bolt sign
Above the door, between the windows, draw a big zigzag lightning bolt as tall as a window, pointing down.
Step 9: Ground and bushes
Draw a flat ground line out past each side and between the buildings. Add a bush at each building corner.
Tip Each bush is 3 hill bumps sitting on the ground.
Step 10: Sky windows, yellow bolt
Colour the windows sky blue and the lightning bolt bright yellow, and leave the steam white.
Step 11: Green bushes
Colour the bushes leaf green.
Step 12: Grey tower, blue door
Colour the cooling tower grey and the big door blue.
Step 13: Red walls, grey roof
Colour the roof slate grey and the walls red around the windows, bolt, door and bushes. Your power plant hums!
