How to Draw a Footbridge
Draw a footbridge in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the curved deck.
Step 1: The curved deck
Across the middle, start on the left. Draw 2 long gently humped lines, a finger apart, stop on the right.
Tip Like a rainbow that is nearly flat.
Step 2: Planks
Draw short lines across the deck from the top curve to the bottom curve, evenly spaced, for the planks.
Step 3: 7 posts
On the deck draw 7 short posts, evenly spaced. Start each on the top curve and go straight up.
Step 4: 2 rails
From the first post top to the last, draw a curved rail. Add a lower rail and 2 end knobs.
Step 5: The banks
Start at each side edge. Draw the bank to the deck end, then curve down and stop under the bridge.
Step 6: The stream
Along the feet of the banks, draw a long wavy line from edge to edge for the water.
Step 7: Ripples
Below the water line, draw 2 short wavy ripples, one on the left and one lower on the right.
Step 8: 2 reeds
Just inside each bank, draw a tall thin pointed leaf growing up out of the water for a reed.
Step 9: The sun
Draw a small round sun with 8 short rays in the top left corner.
Step 10: Yellow sun
Colour the sun yellow.
Step 11: Blue stream, green banks
Colour the water blue right down to the bottom edge, and the banks and reeds leaf green.
Step 12: Wooden bridge
Colour the deck and the 2 round knobs wood brown. Go over your lines and your footbridge is done!
