How to Draw a Container Home
Draw a container home in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the long container.
Step 1: The long container
Draw a long low box across the middle of your paper. Leave room on the right for the deck.
Tip A container home is a big metal shipping box with windows cut in.
Step 2: Roof and solar panel
On top of the box draw a thin flat roof. Add a slanted panel on the right with 3 lines.
Step 3: Blocks and ground
Under the box draw 3 small blocks: left, middle and right. Draw a long ground line under them.
Step 4: Ribbed sides
Draw upright lines down the box: 3 on the left, 2 in the middle and 2 on the right.
Step 5: Windows
Between the left and middle lines draw a big window with a bar down its middle, and a smaller window.
Step 6: The door
Between the middle and right lines draw a tall door with a round knob, standing on the bottom edge.
Step 7: The deck
At the right end draw a long flat box for the deck, with 2 short legs down to the ground.
Step 8: Pot plant
In the middle of the deck draw a little pot. Draw 3 pointed leaves growing out of its top.
Step 9: Deck rail
Draw a tall post at the far end of the deck. Join its top to the box with a rail.
Step 10: The sun
Above the deck draw a round sun with 8 short rays.
Step 11: Yellow sun, sky windows
Colour the sun yellow. Colour the 2 windows and the solar panel sky blue.
Step 12: Teal container
Colour the container teal, going around the windows and the door.
Step 13: Wooden door and deck
Colour the door, the deck with its legs and the pot wood brown.
Step 14: Grey roof, green plant
Colour the roof and the blocks grey and the plant green. Your container home is done!
