How to Draw a Porch Swing
Draw a porch swing in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the porch beam.
Step 1: The porch beam
Near the top of your paper draw a long thin box right across, almost as wide as the paper.
Step 2: Two posts
Under each end of the beam draw a tall post. Start on the beam, go down to the floor.
Step 3: The porch floor
Under the posts draw a long thin floor box as wide as the beam, with 5 short lines for boards.
Step 4: The seat
In the middle of the paper, hanging in the air, draw a long flat box for the seat.
Step 5: The back
Start on the seat near the left end. Go up, curve across, and come back down to the seat.
Step 6: Back slats
Draw 4 straight lines down the back for slats. Start at the top edge and stop at the seat.
Step 7: Arm rests
On each end of the seat draw an arm rest. Start on the seat, go up, and curl back.
Step 8: Chains
Draw 4 chains up to the beam, from both arm rests and both top corners of the back.
Step 9: A potted plant
Draw a pot on the floor near the left post, with 3 oval leaves fanning up out of it.
Step 10: Cream porch, tan floor
Colour the beam and posts cream and the floor tan.
Step 11: Green plant, orange pot
Colour the 3 leaves green and the pot orange.
Step 12: Wooden bench
Colour the seat, back and arm rests wood brown. Go over your lines and your swing is done!
