How to Draw a House
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the roof.
Step 1: The roof
Near the top draw a tall pointy roof like a witch's hat, with a thick brim sticking out each side.
Tip The roof is more than half the house.
Step 2: The walls
Start under the brim, a little in from the left. Draw the wall down, across, and up to the brim.
Tip The walls are narrower than the roof, so it hangs over like a hat.
Step 3: The door
In the middle of the wall draw a tall door with a rainbow top. Add a peep window and knob.
Step 4: Doorstep and ground
From the wall bottom, draw a doorstep over the door, stopping on the wall. Draw ground out from each corner.
Tip Rub out the door lines inside the doorstep.
Step 5: Three windows
Draw a big square window each side of the door. In the middle of the roof draw a round window.
Step 6: Sills and panes
Draw a thin shelf along the bottom of each square window. Give every window a plus sign.
Step 7: The chimney
Start on the right roof slope. Draw a box chimney up with a wider cap, back down to the roof.
Tip Keep the chimney top below the point of the roof.
Step 8: Smoke puffs
On the chimney cap draw a round smoke puff. Add a bigger one up left, then another up right.
Step 9: Two bushes
Start on the ground beside each wall. Draw a bumpy dome bush over the corner, back to the ground.
Step 10: Grass tufts
At each end of the ground, draw 3 short grass blades fanning up from one spot.
Step 11: Blue windows, grey doorstep
Colour all the windows sky blue and the doorstep light grey.
Step 12: Green bushes, wooden door
Colour the bushes green, and the door wood brown around its peep window.
Step 13: Red roof, brown chimney
Colour the roof red around its window and the chimney brown. Leave the walls and smoke white.
