How to Draw a Police Horse

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a police horse in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: horse head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Horse head

On the left, draw a long horse head: a round cheek at the top and a long nose pointing down.

Tip Leave lots of room above and to the right for the rider.

  2. Step 2: Eye and ears

Draw 1 big eye with a black dot. Add a nostril, a smile and 2 pointy ears on top.

  3. Step 3: Neck and back

Start behind the ears. Draw down the thick neck, along the back and round the bottom. Stop half way down.

  4. Step 4: Chest and front leg

Draw a ground line. Start under the cheek. Draw the chest down into a leg, then back up and stop.

Tip The leg gets thinner below the knee and wider again at the hoof.

  5. Step 5: Tummy and back leg

Start at the front leg. Draw a round tummy, then a back leg down and up. Stop at the bottom.

  6. Step 6: Far legs and hooves

Under the tummy, draw 2 more legs peeking out. Draw a short line across each leg for 4 hooves.

  7. Step 7: Mane and tail

Draw a tuft between the ears. Draw 3 soft bumps along the top of the neck and a long tail.

  8. Step 8: Saddle cloth and leg

On the back, draw a square cloth hanging down the side. Over it, draw a bent leg and a boot.

Tip The officer sits on the horse, so you see 1 leg. The other is on the far side.

  9. Step 9: Jacket and arm

Above the leg, draw the jacket. Add a bent arm that gets thinner, and a mitten hand.

  10. Step 10: Officer's head

On top of the jacket, draw a round head with 2 dot eyes and a smile.

  11. Step 11: Helmet and reins

Draw a helmet with a peak and a band. Add 2 sleeve lines and a rein to the horse.

  12. Step 12: Peach and yellow

Colour the face and the hand peach. Colour the helmet band and the arm band bright yellow.

  13. Step 13: Brown and blue

Colour the horse brown, but leave its eye white. Colour the saddle cloth blue.

  14. Step 14: Dark blue and black

Colour the uniform and helmet dark blue. Colour the mane, tuft, tail, boot and hooves black.
