How to Draw a Mermaid Cat

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a mermaid cat in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw a big round head, a little wider than tall.

Tip The head is the biggest part: wider than the shoulders.

  2. Step 2: Two pointy ears

On top of the head draw 2 tall pointy ears leaning out a little. Draw a smaller triangle inside each.

  3. Step 3: The face

Below the middle of the head draw 2 big round eyes. Add a triangle nose and a W smile.

  4. Step 4: Whiskers

Draw 3 whiskers on each cheek, curving out from the side of the head: one up, one flat, one down.

  5. Step 5: Small body

Start on the left cheek. Draw a small body down to a flat hip line, up to the right cheek.

Tip The body is narrower than the head, with no neck.

  6. Step 6: Shell top

From the left of the chest draw a wide band across to the right. Add a shell in the middle.

  7. Step 7: Short bent arms

From each shoulder draw a short arm down and out, bending at the elbow back in toward the hip.

  8. Step 8: Round paws

At the end of each arm draw a round paw resting on the hip, with 2 short toe lines.

  9. Step 9: Curling fish tail

Start at the left hip. Draw a tail curving down right, out to a 2-point fin, back to the hip.

  10. Step 10: Scales and ground

Across the tail draw 3 rows of little bumps for scales. Draw a long ground line under the tail.

  11. Step 11: Pink ears and nose

Go over your lines. Colour the inside of each ear, the nose, the cheeks and the shell pink.

  12. Step 12: Ginger fur

Colour the head, ears, body, arms and paws ginger, going around the pink and the top. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Teal tail, purple top

Colour the tail teal, going around the paws. Colour the top purple, around the shell. Your mermaid cat is done!
