How to Draw Poison Ivy
Draw poison ivy in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the stem.
Step 1: The stem
From near the bottom of your paper draw a tall thin stem up past the middle, getting thinner.
Step 2: The top leaf
On top of the stem draw a big pointed leaf with one pointy bump on each side.
Tip The leaf is fat near the stem and comes to a sharp tip.
Step 3: Two side leaves
Just under it draw 2 more leaves, one pointing left and one right. Each has a bump underneath.
Tip Leaves of three, let it be! Never touch real poison ivy.
Step 4: The left stalk
From halfway up the stem draw a thin stalk out to the left with a pointed leaf on its end.
Step 5: Left side leaves
Where that leaf joins its stalk add 2 smaller leaves, one pointing up and one down.
Step 6: The right stalk
From lower on the stem draw a thin stalk out to the right with a pointed leaf on its end.
Step 7: Right side leaves
Add 2 smaller leaves where that leaf joins its stalk, one up and one down, to make 3.
Step 8: Top leaf veins
Start where each top leaf joins the stem. Draw a line along its middle, stopping just before the tip.
Step 9: More leaf veins
Start at the stalk end of the other 6 leaves. Draw a line along each middle, stopping before the tip.
Step 10: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a soft ground line under the stem, stopping near the right edge.
Step 11: Light green leaves
Colour the 3 big leaves at the top light green.
Step 12: Red stems
Colour the stem and the 2 thin stalks red.
Step 13: Dark green leaves
Go over your lines. Colour the other 6 leaves dark green. Your poison ivy is done!
