How to Draw Falling Leaves
Draw falling leaves in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: a bare branch.
Step 1: A bare branch
Start at the left edge near the top. Draw a branch sloping down right, thick to thin. Add a twig.
Step 2: Two leaves holding on
Near the branch tip draw a small pointed leaf hanging under it, and one above the twig. Add veins.
Step 3: The first falling leaf
Right of the branch tip, draw a pointed leaf tipped on its side, with a vein.
Tip Falling leaves tilt every which way.
Step 4: A maple leaf
Lower on the left draw a tilted maple leaf: 5 pointed lobes like a hand, with a stem.
Step 5: Two more leaves
On the right draw a plump rounded leaf upside down. In the middle draw a pointed leaf leaning.
Step 6: Lower leaves
Lower still draw another maple leaf on the right and a plump rounded leaf on the left, both tilted.
Step 7: The ground
Start a little in from the left edge. Draw a soft ground line across, stopping near the right edge.
Step 8: Leaves on the ground
On the ground line draw 3 leaves lying flat: a rounded one, a maple leaf and a pointed one.
Step 9: Yellow leaves
Colour the 3 plump rounded leaves yellow.
Step 10: Orange and red leaves
Colour the 2 branch leaves and the pointed leaves orange, then the maple leaves red.
Step 11: Brown branch
Colour the branch and twig wood brown. Your falling leaves are done!
