How to Draw a Birch Leaf
Draw a birch leaf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: top edge.
Step 1: Top edge
Start at the tip, top right. Draw tiny even bumps along the top edge, stopping at the base, lower left.
Tip The leaf leans to the right, like it is lying on the ground.
Step 2: Bottom edge
From the base draw the bottom edge with tiny even bumps, stopping at the sharp tip.
Step 3: The short stem
From the leaf's base draw a short stem curving down to the left. Make it thinner at its round end.
Step 4: The middle vein
Start at the base. Draw a straight vein up the middle, stopping short of the tip.
Step 5: Top veins
From the middle vein draw 4 veins on the top side, slanting up towards the tip, stopping before the bumps.
Step 6: Bottom veins
Draw 4 more veins on the bottom side, each a little lower than a top vein, stopping before the bumps.
Step 7: A little leaf
Low on the right, under the tip, draw a little pointed leaf with a short stem and a middle vein.
Step 8: The ground
Start near the left edge. Draw a ground line touching the stem and both leaves. Stop near the right edge.
Step 9: Yellow leaf
Colour the little leaf yellow, right to its edge.
Step 10: Green leaf, brown stem
Colour the big leaf green and the stem brown. Go over your lines and your birch leaf is done!
