How to Draw an Oregon Grape
Draw an oregon grape in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the left leaf.
Step 1: The left leaf
Above the middle, draw a long spiky leaf pointing left, with 4 soft points along each edge.
Tip Join the points with little dips, like the edge of a holly leaf.
Step 2: The right leaf
Draw the same leaf pointing right, so the 2 leaves meet at their bases.
Step 3: The twig
Where the leaves meet, draw a thin twig from near the top down to just below the leaves.
Tip Give the top end a round cap.
Step 4: Top berries
Under the leaves draw a row of 4 round berries, each tucked a little behind the last.
Tip Each berry is about as big as a small coin.
Step 5: Second row
Under them draw 3 more berries, tucked behind, one under each gap.
Step 6: Last berries
Then draw 2 berries tucked under those, and 1 at the very bottom.
Tip The bunch gets narrower as it goes down, like a tiny bunch of grapes.
Step 7: Middle veins
Start at the twig. Draw a line along the middle of each leaf, stopping before the tip.
Step 8: Side veins
From each middle vein, draw 2 short lines slanting out towards each edge, like branches.
Step 9: Green leaves
Go over your lines, then colour both spiky leaves green.
Step 10: Blue berries
Colour all 10 berries dark blue.
Step 11: Brown twig
Colour the twig brown. Your Oregon grape is done!
