How to Draw a Ginger Flower
Draw a ginger flower in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the torch.
Step 1: The torch
Near the top middle draw a tall cone like a flame: a rounded point on top and a flat bottom.
Tip Like a pine cone made of red waxy petals.
Step 2: Top scales
Near the top draw 1 little upside-down U with a pointy top, then 2 more below it.
Step 3: More scales
Under them draw 1 in the middle, then 2 wider ones below, tucked into the gaps like roof tiles.
Step 4: Last scales
Finish with 1 in the middle and 2 near the bottom. Keep every scale off the edges.
Step 5: The stem
From the cone draw 2 gently curved lines down to near the bottom of your paper, wider at the bottom.
Step 6: 2 leaves
From the stem draw a long pointed leaf out left, tilting up, and another out right, a little lower.
Step 7: Leaf veins
Start on the stem end of each leaf. Draw 1 vein, stopping near the tip.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line under the stem across the paper. Add 2 grass blades each side, away from the stem.
Step 9: Red torch
Go over your lines, then colour the whole cone bright red.
Step 10: Green leaves and stem
Colour the leaves light green and the stem dark green. Your flower is done!
