How to Draw a Daffodil
Draw a daffodil in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the trumpet.
Step 1: The trumpet
High up, draw a ring of 8 bumps, starting and ending at the top, then a smaller bumpy ring inside.
Tip Seen from the front, the trumpet is a frilly cup: the 2 rings are its rim.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the trumpet's middle draw 2 big eggy eyes, a little apart, with a black dot and shine in each.
Step 3: A big smile
Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from eye to eye, ends turning up, with a little gap above.
Step 4: Three petals
From the ruffle draw a plump pointed petal straight up, then 2 more down-left and down-right, like a star.
Tip Each petal is fat in the middle and comes to a soft point.
Step 5: Three more petals
Fill the gaps: from the ruffle between 2 petals draw the same petal up-right, straight down, and up-left.
Step 6: The stem
From under the bottom petal draw 2 long lines down to near the paper's bottom, spreading a little.
Step 7: Two long leaves
A finger from the stem, draw a long thin leaf up each side, bending out at the tip.
Tip Daffodil leaves grow straight up from the ground, long, thin and flat.
Step 8: Leaf veins
In each leaf draw one line from the bottom up the middle, stopping just short of the tip.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Draw a ground line under the stem. Flick 2 grass blades up each side, a finger away from the leaves.
Step 10: Yellow petals
Colour all 6 petals yellow, right to their points. Give the face 2 rosy pink cheeks under the eyes.
Step 11: Orange trumpet, green stem
Colour the trumpet orange around the eyes, cheeks and smile, then the stem and leaves green. Go over your lines!
Tip Keep the eyes white.
