How to Draw a Pocket Watch
Draw a pocket watch in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round case.
Step 1: Round case
In the middle, draw a big round circle as big as your fist.
Tip Go round twice lightly, then once firmly.
Step 2: Dial ring
Inside the big circle, draw a second circle a little smaller, all the way round.
Step 3: Two big eyes
In the top half of the dial, draw 2 big egg eyes with a big black dot in each.
Step 4: The hands
Draw a dot in the dial's middle. From it, draw a short hand left and a longer hand up right.
Step 5: Smile and cheeks
Under the hands, draw a U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each end.
Step 6: Stem and ring
On top of the case, draw a short post with a ring on it: 2 circles, one inside the other.
Step 7: Four ticks
Inside the dial ring, draw a short tick at the top, bottom, left and right.
Step 8: The chain
Start on the ring's left. Curve a chain down left to the case's bottom. Add 6 beads and a clasp.
Step 9: Floor and shadow
Draw a floor line from left of the clasp to the right. Add a flat oval shadow under the case.
Step 10: Sparkles
Add 4 little sparkles in the air around the watch.
Step 11: Gold case
Go over your lines. Colour the case, the post and the ring yellow, leaving the dial and eyes white.
Step 12: Yellow chain, grey shadow
Colour the chain beads and the clasp yellow, and the shadow grey.
Step 13: Pink cheeks, navy hands
Colour the cheeks pink and the hands navy, and your pocket watch is right on time!
