How to Draw Cargo Pants
Draw cargo pants in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the waistband.
Step 1: The waistband
Near the top draw a long flat box, wider than your hand, for the waistband.
Tip Leave lots of room underneath for the long legs.
Step 2: 2 loose legs
From the box's left corner draw down, across, up to a V, down, across and up to the right corner.
Tip Cargo trousers are baggy, so keep the legs wide.
Step 3: Fly and button
Draw a line from the waistband's middle down to the V. Add a J beside it and a button above.
Step 4: Belt loops
On the waistband draw 4 small upright boxes, 2 on each side of the button.
Tip A belt slides through these loops.
Step 5: Hip pockets
On each hip start under the first belt loop. Scoop a curve down to the side of the leg.
Step 6: Big thigh pockets
Halfway down each leg draw a big box pocket with round bottom corners. Let it poke out past the side.
Tip These big pockets are what make them cargo trousers.
Step 7: Pocket flaps
Across the top of each pocket draw a flap, a little wider, with a point under its middle.
Tip The flap covers the top of the pocket like a lid.
Step 8: Buttons and pleats
Draw a small button on each flap. Draw a line from each flap's point down to the pocket's bottom.
Step 9: Ankle hems
A finger above the bottom of each leg draw a line from the outer edge across to the inner edge.
Tip Keep both hem lines level with each other.
Step 10: Yellow and sand
Go over your lines. Colour the 3 buttons yellow and the trousers sand. Leave the flaps and hems white.
Step 11: Brown trim
Colour the waistband, belt loops, pocket flaps and ankle hems brown, around the buttons. All done!
