How to Draw a Drum Kit
Draw a drum kit in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bass drum.
Step 1: The bass drum
Below the middle of your paper, draw a big circle a hand wide, with a second circle a finger inside.
Tip The ring between them is the drum's thick hoop.
Step 2: Big eyes
Above the middle of the drum, draw 2 big eyes a finger apart. Add a black dot and shine.
Step 3: Big smile and cheeks
Draw a line from eye across to eye, with a big U under it. Add a tongue and 2 cheeks.
Tip Colour the mouth black above the tongue.
Step 4: Left tom
Behind the top left, draw a tom: oval top, 2 lines down from its ends, a smile to join them.
Tip Add a second smile a finger below the top oval for the rim.
Step 5: Right tom
Do another behind the top right: an oval top, 2 lines down from its ends, a smile to join them.
Tip Now 2 little toms peep up behind the big drum.
Step 6: The cymbal
High up to the right of the drums, draw a long flat oval cymbal with a small bump on top.
Step 7: The stand
From under the cymbal, draw a line straight down, then 2 short legs slanting out to the ground.
Step 8: Music notes
Left of the drums, draw a music note: tilted oval, stem up, little flag. Add a smaller note top right.
Step 9: Ground and shadow
Draw a flat oval shadow under the drum, and a ground line from each end out to the sides.
Step 10: Cream and yellow
Colour the skins cream around the eyes, mouth and cheeks, then the cymbal and tom rims yellow.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 11: Red drums
Colour the big hoop and the tom bodies red, going around the yellow rims.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, grey shadow
Colour the cheeks and tongue pink, the shadow grey, and the note heads black. Then go over all your lines.
