How to Draw a Pistachio
Draw a pistachio in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the shell.
Step 1: The shell
In the middle, draw a fat egg standing up, as tall as your hand, with a soft point on top.
Step 2: The crack
From the point, draw a bowed line down to the bottom, swinging right. Draw another swinging left.
Tip The gap between is the green nut, nearly half as wide as the shell.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the green nut, draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a black dot in each, leaving a white shine.
Step 4: A big smile
Leave a little gap under the eyes. Draw a wide U smile from under one eye to the other.
Step 5: Ridges on the left
On the left half of the shell, draw 2 short curved dashes near the edge, one high and one low.
Step 6: Ridges on the right
On the right half, draw 2 more short curved dashes near the edge, one high and one low.
Step 7: A little pistachio
On the right, beside the big shell, draw a small closed pistachio lying down. Add a bowed crack line.
Step 8: Ground and grass
Start at the left. Draw a ground line under both nuts, stopping at the right. Add a little grass tuft.
Step 9: Tan shell
Colour both halves of the shell tan, and the little pistachio too. Leave the nut in the gap.
Step 10: Green nut, pink cheeks
Colour the nut leaf green, going round the face. Add 2 pink cheeks. Go over your lines and you're done!
Tip Keep the eyes white.
