How to Draw a Pirate Ship Ride

Step 1: The tall frame

Draw a tall upside-down V with thick legs. This frame holds the ride up.

Tip Make both legs the same, with flat feet.

Step 2: Hub and ground

Draw a circle over the top of the frame. Draw a long ground line under the 2 feet.

Tip Rub out the frame lines inside the circle.

Step 3: The swinging boat

Under the circle draw a big boat curved like a banana. Tip it so the right end is higher.

Tip Rub out the bits of the legs inside the boat.

Step 4: Two arms

Draw 2 straight lines: each starts at the circle and stops at a pointed tip of the boat.

Step 5: The rail

Draw a curved line along the boat, just under its top edge. Start and stop on the boat's sides.

Step 6: Three riders

Draw 3 round heads peeking over the top edge of the boat, with wide gaps between them.

Tip Rub out any frame line inside a head.

Step 7: Happy faces

Give each rider 2 dot eyes and a little smile.

Step 8: Hair

Draw hair over the top of each head, with a fringe just above the eyes.

Step 9: Arms in the air

Beside each head draw 2 arms reaching up from the boat, each with a round hand on top.

Tip Leave a small gap between each arm and the head. Rub out frame lines inside the arms.

Step 10: The flag

Start on top of the circle and draw a short pole up. Join a pointed flag to its tip.

Step 11: Peach skin

Colour the 3 faces and all 6 arms peach.

Step 12: Yellow and red

Colour the circle and the left rider's hair yellow. Colour the band above the rail red.

Step 13: Blue frame, brown boat

Colour the frame blue. Colour the boat below the rail and the middle rider's hair brown.

Step 14: Black flag

Colour the flag and the right rider's hair black. Go over your lines: the ride is ready to swing!
