How to Draw a Pirate Flag

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a pirate flag in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pole.

Print

  1. Step 1: The pole

On the left, draw a tall thin pole from near the bottom to near the top. Add a ball.

  2. Step 2: The flag

Start on the pole near the top. Draw a rippling flag out right, down a wobbly edge, to the pole.

  3. Step 3: The skull

In the flag's middle, draw a big round skull. From one cheek, draw a U jaw across to the other.

  4. Step 4: Skull face

Give the skull 2 big black eye holes, a little heart nose, and 3 short tooth lines into the jaw.

  5. Step 5: First bone

Behind the skull, draw a fat dog bone slanting from top left to bottom right, with round ends.

  6. Step 6: Second bone

Draw the same bone from top right to bottom left, so the 2 bones make an X behind the skull.

  7. Step 7: The ground

Under the pole, draw a straight ground line from a little left of the pole to just past the flag.

  8. Step 8: Wind lines

Draw 2 short curved wind lines on each side of the flag, like the wind is whooshing by.

  9. Step 9: Brown pole

Colour the pole and the ball on top brown.

  10. Step 10: Black flag

Colour the flag black, around the skull and bones so they stay white. Yo ho ho, your flag is done!
