How to Draw Bagpipes
Draw bagpipes in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the bag.
Step 1: The bag
In the middle of your paper draw a big soft oval, wider than it is tall.
Tip The bag is the soft part the player squeezes.
Step 2: Two eyes
High on the bag draw 2 oval eyes a little apart, each with a big black dot and a shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, and a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: Three tall pipes
From the top left of the bag draw 3 long pipes leaning left. The right one is the longest.
Tip These are the drones. Each one hums one long, steady note.
Step 5: Caps and joints
On each pipe draw a wider box near the middle for a joint, and a cap on the top end.
Step 6: The blowpipe
From the top right of the bag draw a short pipe going up to the right, with a thin tip.
Step 7: The chanter
From the bottom right of the bag draw a long pipe hanging down, with 3 holes and a cap.
Step 8: Tartan bands
Under the smile draw 2 thin boxes across. From the top box draw 2 boxes down to the bottom.
Step 9: Cord and tassel
Start on the right pipe's joint. Droop a cord across to the left joint, then down to a tassel.
Step 10: Music notes
In the air draw 2 music notes, top right and bottom left: a black oval, a stick and a flag.
Step 11: Cream caps, yellow cord
Go over your lines. Colour the caps and joints cream, and the cord and tassel yellow.
Step 12: Red bag
Colour the bag red, going around the bands. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Brown pipes
Colour all 5 pipes brown, going around the cream caps and joints and the yellow cord.
Step 14: Navy bands
Colour the bands navy. Your bagpipes are ready to play!
