How to Draw a Pipe
Draw a pipe in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pipe's top.
Step 1: The pipe's top
Start at the left, above the middle. Draw a line across, bend smoothly, and go down, stopping below the middle.
Tip The bend is a soft curve, not a sharp corner.
Step 2: The inside line
Start a thumb lower. Draw a second line across and down with a smaller bend, ending level with the first.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the down arm, under the bend, draw 2 egg eyes side by side. Colour a black dot in each.
Tip Keep a gap between the eyes and the pipe's lines.
Step 4: The smile
Under the eyes draw a small U smile from eye to eye.
Step 5: Two end plates
At each end draw a rounded bar closing the pipe, a little bigger than the pipe is thick.
Step 6: Bolts
On each end plate draw 2 small black dots for bolts, one near each end.
Step 7: The joint collar
Across the top arm, before the bend, draw a tall thin rounded bar a little taller than the pipe.
Step 8: The wall
Start high above the left plate. Draw a straight wall line down its left side, stopping well below it.
Step 9: A water drip
Under the bottom plate, in the middle, draw a little water drop with its point up.
Step 10: Sparkles
Draw 3 small sparkles in the space around the pipe, not touching it.
Step 11: Blue drip, yellow sparkles
Go over your lines, then colour the drip water blue and the sparkles yellow.
Step 12: Grey pipe, slate plates
Colour the pipe grey around the face, and the plates and collar slate around the bolts. Leave the eyes white.
