How to Draw a Smoke Detector

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a smoke detector in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the ceiling.

Print

  1. Step 1: The ceiling

Near the top draw a line right across for the ceiling.

  2. Step 2: The disc face

Just under the ceiling draw a big flat oval, twice as wide as tall, for the disc's bottom.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

In the middle of the oval draw 2 big egg eyes. Colour a big black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile. Add a small flat oval cheek beside each eye.

  5. Step 5: The side band

From the oval's left tip draw a thin rainbow band up to the ceiling and down to the right tip.

  6. Step 6: Vent slots

Along the top of the side band draw 6 short upright slots, spaced out.

  7. Step 7: The light

Near the top right of the oval, away from the face, draw a tiny round light.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles

Below the disc draw 2 little four-point sparkles, one on each side, to make it shine.

  9. Step 9: Pink cheeks, yellow sparkles

Go over your lines, then colour the cheeks pink and the sparkles yellow. Leave the eyes and oval white.

  10. Step 10: Red light

    Colour the little light red.

  11. Step 11: Grey band

Colour the side band grey, and your smoke detector is done!
