How to Draw a Pinecone
Draw a pinecone in 9 easy steps, about 7 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the egg.
Step 1: The egg
In the middle of your paper draw a tall egg, as tall as your hand, with a soft point below.
Step 2: The top rows
Start on the left edge near the top. Draw 3 U bumps across to the right edge. Add 4 below.
Step 3: The middle rows
Keep going down: draw 2 more rows of 5 U bumps each, edge to edge, where the egg is widest.
Step 4: The bottom rows
Draw a row of 4 U bumps, then a row of 3, down near the point, each edge to edge.
Step 5: The stalk
Start on top of the egg. Draw a short stem up to a round top and back down.
Step 6: Pine needles
From the right side of the stalk draw 3 short thin pointy needles, fanning up and out.
Step 7: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge. Draw a ground line touching the point, to near the right. Add 2 grass tufts.
Step 8: Wood stalk, green needles
Colour the stalk wood brown and the 3 needles leaf green.
Step 9: Brown cone
Colour the whole pinecone brown, right up to its edges. Your pinecone is done!

Your finished drawing
