How to Draw a CubeSat
Draw a CubeSat in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front square.
Step 1: The front square
In the middle of your paper, a little left, draw one square: the front of a small cube.
Tip A cubesat is a tiny satellite the size of a loaf of bread.
Step 2: Top and side
From the square's top edge draw a slanted top face going up right. From its right edge, a side face.
Step 3: The round face
On the front square draw a BIG circle nearly filling it.
Step 4: Big eyes and smile
In the circle draw 2 big eyes, a black dot with a shiny spot in each, and a wide smile.
Step 5: Solar cells
On the side face draw 4 slanted lines across it, evenly spaced, following the slant.
Step 6: 4 antennae
Start on 4 outside corners of the cube. Draw 4 thin straight antennae pointing out, stopping in tiny round tips.
Tip Make them long and straight, never across the box.
Step 7: The Earth
Along the bottom of your paper, draw one big gentle curve bowing up, from side to side: the Earth.
Step 8: Little stars
Draw 5 little stars in the sky around the cubesat, away from the antennae and the Earth.
Step 9: Blue Earth, yellow stars
Colour the stars yellow. Colour the Earth blue, below the curve all the way to the paper's edges.
Step 10: Slate cube, pink cheeks
Colour the front and top slate grey, around the face. Leave the face and eyes white, and colour pink cheeks.
Step 11: Navy solar side
Colour the side navy blue, leaving the cell lines showing, and the antenna tips navy. Your cubesat is orbiting!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a CubeSat, drawn by you.
