How to Draw a Pill

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a pill in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the capsule.

Print

  1. Step 1: The capsule

In the middle of your paper draw a tall capsule: straight sides, round ends, twice as tall as wide.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

On the top half draw 2 big round eyes a finger apart, with a big black dot in each.

  3. Step 3: A smile

Under the eyes draw a wide U smile from under the left eye to under the right eye.

  4. Step 4: The seam

Start on the left edge halfway down. Draw a line straight across to the right edge: the seam.

  5. Step 5: Rosy cheeks

Draw a small oval cheek beside each end of the smile.

  6. Step 6: A shine

Near the top left edge draw a thin slanted sliver for a shine, a finger inside the edge.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles

Draw 3 sparkle stars round the capsule: 1 on the left, 1 high right and 1 low right.

  8. Step 8: Ground and shadow

Draw a ground line under the capsule from well left to well right. Add a flat oval shadow under it.

  9. Step 9: Peach cheeks, yellow sparkles

Leave the bottom half, the eyes and the shine white. Colour the cheeks peach and the sparkles yellow.

  10. Step 10: Red top, grey shadow

Colour the top half red around the eyes, cheeks and shine. Colour the shadow grey. Your pill is done!
