How to Draw a Pilgrim

Draw a pilgrim in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.
Step 2: The face
Draw 2 round eyes, a U nose and a smile. Add C ears, starting and ending on the head line.
Step 3: Tall hat
Draw a flat oval brim across the head. Start on its left, go up, across, and down to the brim.
Step 4: Band and buckle
Draw a line across the hat just above the brim for the band. Add a square buckle on the brim.
Step 5: Neck and coat
Draw 2 neck lines. From them draw round shoulders, stopping a little way down. Add the sides and bottom.
Tip Leave the ends open for the sleeves.
Step 6: Wide collar and buttons
Under the chin draw a wide collar with 2 points on the chest, like a big W. Add 2 buttons.
Step 7: Long sleeves
From each shoulder and armpit draw a line down to the wrist. Add a short curve across each wrist.
Step 8: Mitten hands
At the bottom of each arm draw a mitten like the bottom of an egg, with a thumb pointing in.
Step 9: Short trousers
Start at the bottom left of the coat. Draw 2 short wide legs, ending at the bottom right.
Step 10: Stockings, shoes and ground
From each leg draw 2 stocking lines down to a shoe with a round toe. Add a ground line.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour the face, ears, neck and hands peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Yellow buckle, grey band
Colour the buckle and buttons yellow and the band grey. Leave the collar, cuffs and stockings white.
Step 13: Brown trousers, black coat
Colour the trousers brown, then the hat, coat and shoes black, around the band, buckle, buttons, collar and cuffs.
