How to Draw an Architect

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw an architect in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top, in the middle, draw an egg for the head, a little narrower at the chin.

Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and legs.

  2. Step 2: The face

Draw 2 eyes, a tiny nose and a smile. Add C ears from the head line, ending back on it.

Tip Eyes go a little below the middle of the head.

  3. Step 3: Hard hat

From the left of the head draw a hat up over the top to the right. Add a brim.

  4. Step 4: Neck and shirt

Draw 2 neck lines. From the left, draw a shirt with round shoulders, stopping at the right. Add a collar.

  5. Step 5: Tie

Under the collar draw a small knot and a long tie hanging down to a point.

  6. Step 6: Long sleeves

From each shoulder draw a long sleeve to a cuff. Bend the left one in, stopping halfway to the tie.

Tip Rub out the round shoulder lines inside each sleeve.

  7. Step 7: Mitten hands

On the right cuff draw a mitten hanging down. On the left cuff draw a mitten pointing in.

  8. Step 8: Rolled-up plans

From below the left hand, draw a long roll up past the shoulder. Add an oval end with a swirl.

Tip Rub out the arm and shoulder lines inside the roll.

  9. Step 9: Trousers, shoes and ground

From the shirt hem draw 2 trouser legs down to the ankles. Add shoes, toes out, and a ground line.

  10. Step 10: Peach skin, pink cheeks

Go over your lines. Colour the cheeks pink, then the face, ears, neck and hands peach around them.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  11. Step 11: Yellow hat, sky plans

Colour the hard hat yellow and the plans sky blue around the hand. Leave the shirt and sleeves white.

  12. Step 12: Grey trousers, navy tie

Colour the trousers grey around the plans, the tie navy and the shoes black. Done!
