How to Draw a Fingernail
Draw a fingernail in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the finger.
Step 1: The finger
Start low on the left. Draw one big finger pointing up, round the top, and stop low on the right.
Tip Make it huge: the finger is most of the page.
Step 2: The fist
From the finger's bottom right draw 3 knuckle bumps, round under and back to the finger. Add 2 finger lines.
Step 3: The nail
Inside the fingertip draw a tall rounded nail with skin showing each side.
Tip The bottom of the nail is a soft curve, not a straight cut.
Step 4: Half moon
At the bottom of the nail draw a small rainbow curve from corner to corner for the half moon.
Step 5: The shine
Near the nail's top left edge draw a curved shine, shaped like a fat bean.
Step 6: Top wrinkles
A little below the nail draw 2 short curves across the finger, one above the other, for knuckle wrinkles.
Step 7: Bottom wrinkles
Just above the fist draw 2 more curves across the finger for the lower knuckle.
Step 8: Sparkles
Beside the fingertip draw 3 short straight lines pointing out, like a sparkle.
Step 9: Peach hand
Colour the finger and the fist peach, around the nail.
Step 10: Red nail
Colour the nail red. Leave the half moon and the shine white. Go over your lines. Done!
